During the war, Dad went to work in Detroit for Continental Motors Corporation. This was a car factory, but were actually making tanks for the US Government. This picture was from a badge that he had to wear to get into the factory.
Notice his wages for 1943 were $4154.66 and he paid $437.30 in taxes. Seems like a pretty decent salary for those years.
He was a card carrying Member of the International Union, United Automobile, Aircraft and Agricultural Implement Workers of America ie: UAW-CIO.
He worked there from 1942 until 1945. Looks like he then went to work for the Jersey Creamery Company.
